Rhumb Runners

Had a lovely time at Rhumb Runner. Glad we were forewarned about the goat population on the mountain; we did have visitors. Views were great and we enjoyed the pool after a day at one of the many beautiful beaches. House had everything you could possibly need. Drive up/down the mountain is a bit heart stopping until you get used to it. Thank goodness for the Jeep. Michael and Chris were very communicative and sent detailed check in instructions. Nearby restaurants were very good (Aqua Bistro at bottom of hill and Skinny Legs a 5 minute drive. Highly recommend.

This was a wonderful house, perfect for our family of 4. It was very clean with a nice kitchen. The view is amazing. And there are good restaurants at the bottom of the hill (definitely need a 4-wheel drive vehicle!).

Beautiful property, comfortable and very private. Rooms and bathrooms have good size and are very comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped. Location of the house is a little difficult to access because it is almost at the top of the mountain but with a 4WD Jeep should have no problem to get there. Actually I will advise to rent your 4WD in St John and NOT in St Thomas. We had some problems with Budget Rent a Car in St Thomas airport and we don't need problems while in vacations, right? The owners are super nice and ready to help. Consequences of the hurricanes are still a little visible in the surroundings but the house is in perfect condition. Thank you Mike and Chris for letting us use your little piece of heaven.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a wonderful review of our Villa. We loved having you guys stay with us and we would love to have you come back soon. Also great advice on the car rental...we always recommend our guests renting their cars on St John, and also to rent a car as soon as you make a booking. 4WD is a must on St John... Just a point of clarification; our Villa is on a paved road at the top of our hill.... Bordeaux is our mountain, and is about a thousand feet higher than our house...but you still need 4WD to get to our house and pretty much every thing else on St John... St John has come back, and Coral Bay has made great strides considering what Irma did to our community...Thanks again for staying with us...we are so happy you had a great time...Mike and Chris

We have worked very hard getting Rhumb Runner Villa back to her former self...with many new improved features: all new and expanded deck, new furniture, new floors, the house was painted inside and out, the list goes on...Thanks again for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

The villa was even better than the pictures. It was clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable and had everything you need including wonderful beach chairs, nice beach towels and a cooler. The absolute best part was the incredible, surreal view from the wrap around deck! We also loved the pool especially each afternoon after a few hours at a new and fabulous beach! The owners were very responsive and easy to work with. We would recommend this villa to anybody - in a heartbeat!

Rhumb Runner is definitely home away from home BUT in a Paradise setting. We celebrated 40 years of wedding bliss - and it was! The house does not lack in amenities. The view of Coral Bay was spectacular and the morning sunrise was a nice way to ease into the day. Michael & Chris were very helpful and made our planning for this getaway stress free. The snorkeling was excellent - Maho Bay became our favorite - early morning with a picnic breakfast - not a better way to start the day. Then a dip in the pool back at the house to plan the rest of our day was refreshing. And a stop by the Nat'l Park Office in Cruz Bay to get all the details is a must. We would definitely recommend Rhumb Runner and hope to go back some day. P.S. But the cherry on the top was walking into the house the evening of Thanksgiving to find two plates of Thanksgiving Dinner and pumpkin pie with a nice bottle of wine waiting for us... talk about taking care of your guests above & beyond!!

This was our 5th visit to Rhumb Runners. How do you describe paradise? When we arrive I take a deep breath and remind myself how lucky we are to have found this beautiful, perfect, location and house to stay in. Coral Bay overall is a wonderful spot, close to less crowded beaches, convenient food store and great selection of restaurants. The house was lovely the first time we saw it many years ago, but Mike and Cris continue to put in improvements over the years, new kitchen, flat screen TV, original artwork, new chairs, the list goes on. They added some great beach chairs, easy to sling on your back and hike with. We used the grill on the deck and the kitchen to cook some great meals. Of course the views are priceless. I saw another review that mentioned a steep drive up. I've been to several other houses, and this is one of the easiest to get to with this kind of view. My sister was staying in another house about the same height but the view was more hills, less water. In addition to the beautiful views this is a very private location. Loved going to the beaches early, the snorkeling was great, turtles, rays, all kinds of fish, but is was wonderful to relax at the house in the afternoon. Our 23 year old son loved it as well, we were a little worried he would get bored with his parents but we all agreed it was a fabulous trip. Can't wait to go back, I wouldn't dream of staying in another house!!!
